update on the George Galloway fiasco

Posted by Christian  |  at  29.3.09

Federal appeals court judge, Justice Luc Martineau, said he will issue a ruling on whether or not Galloway should be allowed into Canada by 2:00 pm Monday. Martineau oversaw the hearing held in Toronto from his Ottawa office via video conference. Until then if Galloway were to show up and try to enter, the judge warned “it would be an automatic detention.”

In a letter given to him on March 20th, Ottawa accused Galloway of being a member of a terrorist organization, Hamas, despite the fact they represented the people of Gaza, because he handed them some 1.5 million pounds of humanitarian aid.

The outspoken MP's lawyer argued just that.
“Gaza was under siege, they were very much in need of aid,” Jackman told the judge. And she noted that Israeli officials had let the MP into Gaza.
Stephen Gold, the lawyer representing Canada, argued the judge shouldn't put out any ruling because Galloway has not yet been barred. Sure, no one has physically blocked him from entering, and perhaps the conservative government is looking for such a confrontation, it would produce a great photo-op and no doubt please their friends.

The judge doesn't seem to be buying Gold's argument.
“I am relying on pure hearsay evidence” that Galloway in fact brought aid to Gaza. “I have no firsthand affidavit evidence on the allegations that have been levelled,” he said.

“Has there been any evidence or ruling or determination of the nature . . . which make it a concluding finding of fact that the applicant has been engaged in terrorism?” he asked Gold. “All the evidence that I have, including yours, is mostly hearsay.”
Even convicted felon, Conrad Black, has come out in favour of letting Galloway speak in Canada. Of course, he does it while accusing him of being just shy of the anti-christ, but hey, I would probably be a miserable asshole too if I were sitting in some jail. And you would think Connie would have learned from his past smear attempt.

Jewish Defence League controls who comes to Canada

Posted by Christian  |  at  26.3.09

On March 16th 2009, extremist right wing group the Jewish Defence League of Canada, sent a letter to Immigration Minister Jason Kenney, his cabinet colleague Peter Kent and opposition MPs to let them know they wanted the government to keep that "hater" (George Galloway)out of Canada.
"We asked that he not be allowed in," said Meir Weinstein, national director of the Jewish Defence League of Canada.

"Whether or not that had an effect on anyone – well, he's not in."
Weinstein, leader of the ifyoucriticizeIsraelyou'reanti-semitic brigade says he rounded up all his friends and ordered them to contact Canadian politicians and write to newspapers about Galloway.

Four days later, poodle Jason Kenney assured the group there was nothing to worry about. Kenney, being a pro-semantics kind of guy, said his political staff never contacted the Canada Border Services Agency. It was strictly the CBSA who "made the decision" to refuse Galloway. But,
"Neither I nor my office have been in direct touch with CBSA officials about it," Kenney said in an interview.

"But the public servants in both ministries do correspond on a daily basis – on hundreds of files like this."
So the question is, do these public servants have ties to the jewish propaganda outlets? And if so, which outlets? Are they the same ones you party with Jason?

This is a video of Galloway slapping down a right wing reporter from skynews, after she employs the usual "you support the terrorists" canard.

The Guardian's investigation into alleged Israeli war crimes- video report

Posted by Christian  |  at  24.3.09

The Guardian has released a video report of an investigation they conducted in gaza looking into alleged war crimes perpetrated by the most moralest army in the world.

As evidence mounts with last weeks revelations by IDF members that palistinian civilians were killed under permissive rules, it is getting more and more difficult to claim these are just "isolated incidents".

This is more than merely one or two rogue soldiers acting out. This is about civilians being killed by unmanned drones, medics being shot at - wounded or killed as they tried to recover the injured. The more than 50 hospitals and clinics damaged by israeli bombs, the use of an eleven year old as a human shield. So please, enough with the moral superiority complex.
GENEVA – Israeli soldiers used an 11-year-old Palestinian boy as a human shield during the war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, U.N. human rights experts said Monday.

The Israeli Defense force ordered the boy to walk in front of soldiers being fired on in the Gaza neighborhood of Tel al-Hawa and enter buildings before them, said the U.N. secretary-general's envoy for protecting children in armed conflict.

The boy also was told to open the bags of Palestinians — presumably to protect the soldiers from possible explosives — before being released at the entrance to a hospital, Radhika Coomaraswamy said.

She said the Jan. 15 incident, after Israeli tanks had rolled into the neighborhood and during "intense operations," was a violation of Israeli and international law.

texas cops stop mostly non-whites, take their money, cars, jewelry, --kids also on the menu

Posted by Christian  |  at  21.3.09

This is insane. Tenaha, Texas, sports a busy highway leading to popular gambling establishments in Louisiana.

Realizing that perhaps people may be traveling with large amounts of cash, the town has decided to stop motorists {mostly black} passing through for ridiculous reasons, like driving on the white line. The cops then perform a search on both occupant and vehicle. Tehana officials believe if they find a substantial amount of cash, those in the car are guilty of laundering drug money, despite the fact no drugs are found.

At this point, police present folks with one of two choices.
waive their rights to their cash and property or face felony charges for crimes such as money laundering—and the prospect of having to hire a lawyer and return to Shelby County multiple times to attend court sessions to contest the charges.
It gets better. Here is Jennifer Boatright's story.
her husband and two young children—a mixed-race family—were traveling from Houston to visit relatives in east Texas in April 2007 when Tenaha police pulled them over, alleging that they were driving in a left-turn lane.

After searching the car, the officers discovered what Boatright said was a gift for her sister: a small, unused glass pipe made for smoking marijuana. Although they found no drugs or other contraband, the police seized $6,037 that Boatright said the family was carrying to purchase a used car—and then threatened to turn their children, ages 10 and 1, over to Child Protective Services if the couple didn't agree to sign over their right to their cash.

"It was give them the money or they were taking our kids," Boatright said. "They suggested that we never bring it up again. We figured we better give them our cash and get the hell out of there."

Several months later, after Boatright and her husband contacted an attorney, Tenaha officials returned their money but offered no explanation or apology. The couple remain plaintiffs in the federal lawsuit.
This nonsense is also going on near the Mexican border, where Hispanics say they are being targeted.

State Senator John Whitmire, introduced a bill in the state Legislature that would require police to go before a judge prior to seizing property under the asset-forfeiture law—and ultimately tighten the law further so that law-enforcement officials will be allowed to seize property only after a suspect is charged and convicted in a court.

sarah silverman gets politically incorrect on Real Time

Posted by Christian  |  at  20.3.09

*warning* coarse language in the clip

Last week Sarah appeared on Bill's show for a 9 minute segment. And for perhaps the second time ever, I actually didn't mind listening to her. Among the topics they discussed were, the pope and that williamson guy, - how her fascination with "broken" people keeps dragging her back to the playboy mansion - and that her father taught her how to swear when she was 3.

Sandwiched in between all that, Sarah shared her thoughts on what a 'Diva' is. She suggested that when a woman calls herself a Diva, she's really just a _ _ _ _. I know Bill has been called a sexist by some. I'm curious. Is Silverman a sexist as well?

rcmp blows it. Again

Posted by Christian  |  at  20.3.09

The rcmp shows once again how utterly incompetent they are. Or they're just covering their asses, either way there is NO excuse for this nonsense.

Constable Laura Lehne filed a complaint against Corporal Tim Korman in October 2005.

Lehne alleges that at first, korman began with offensive and sexually explicit comments about her. Once she reported him for that, he continued his assault by denying her backup in the field, removing her from training courses, and messing with her work schedule.

Can you imagine having to put up with that bullshit from your supervisor?

During testimony this week, witnesses corroborated Lehne's claim regarding korman's actions.
former commanding officer Darrell McFadyen had still found the corporal responsible for acts of harassment and sexual harassment - including, among other transgressions, once being overheard by several people at a party saying he would "ride (Lehne) hard and put her away wet,"
And yet, because McFadyen just happened to miss the deadline for filing the complaint, it has been dismissed, and a petty, vindictive Tim Korman gets to keep his job without consequence.

Lehne spoke with reporters after her case was thrown out.
"I've asked the high-ranking officials of the RCMP to deal with this for 4½ years now," Lehne said.

"I knew if they dragged their feet, they would miss the timelines. It gets thrown out today. And we knew [as] we watched that this was going to occur.

"I talked to the media in 2007 and 2008, saying the RCMP are dragging their feet and this will happen," Lehne went on. "And, sure enough, today it's thrown out."
Lehne has launched a civil suit against timmy.

Israeli soldiers on Gaza: Killing civilians, vandalism, and lax rules of engagement

Posted by Christian  |  at  19.3.09

Haaretz.com is reporting on conversations held a month ago between graduates of a pre-army program at Oranim, who fought in Gaza as combat soldiers and junior officers.

These are some of their stories.

Israeli forces killed Palestinian civilians and intentionally destroyed their property under permissive rules of engagement, say the soldiers.
"The platoon commander let the family go and told them to go to the right. One mother and her two children didn't understand and went to the left, but they forgot to tell the sharpshooter on the roof they had let them go and it was okay, and he should hold his fire and he ... he did what he was supposed to, like he was following his orders."

"The sharpshooter saw a woman and children approaching him, closer than the lines he was told no one should pass. He shot them straight away. In any case, what happened is that in the end he killed them.

"I don't think he felt too bad about it, because after all, as far as he was concerned, he did his job according to the orders he was given. And the atmosphere in general, from what I understood from most of my men who I talked to ... I don't know how to describe it .... The lives of Palestinians, let's say, is something very, very less important than the lives of our soldiers. So as far as they are concerned they can justify it that way," he said.
In another incident, a commander ordered an elderly Palestinian woman be shot and killed as she walked along a road. She was about 100 metres from a house being occupied by Israeli forces.

In another account, a squad leader says he protested the permissive rules of engagement which allowed clearing houses by shooting without any warning to the residents. After the orders were changed, his soldiers complained, saying they should kill everyone in the heart of Gaza because they were all terrorists.
"You do not get the impression from the officers that there is any logic to it, but they won't say anything. To write 'death to the Arabs' on the walls, to take family pictures and spit on them, just because you can. I think this is the main thing: To understand how much the IDF has fallen in the realm of ethics, really. It's what I'll remember the most."

alright heathens, you can now make it official

Posted by Christian  |  at  15.3.09

Well okay it's not really an official certificate, but still! This story is pretty amusing. John Hunt, baptized some 50 years ago in the parish church of St Jude has decided he wants his name off of the baptismal roll.

In fact, he wants the local Anglican diocese to extend the courtesy to all who were baptized too young to decide for themselves whether they wanted this formal initiation into Christianity.

But the Bishop of Croydon, the Right Reverend Nick Baines says:
"You can't remove from the record something that actually happened," said the Bishop of Croydon, the Right Reverend Nick Baines.

"Whether we agree whether it should have happened or not is a different matter.

"But it's a bit like trying to expunge Trotsky from the photos. Mr Hunt was baptised and that's a matter of public record."
? Is that really the comparison you want to make, Reverend? I mean, where does the church stand in this analogy?

Anyhow, Bishop Baines suggests Mr. Hunt renounce his baptism in the London Gazette, a journal of record with an ancestry going back to the 17th Century. Baines is willing to see such notices inserted into the baptismal roll to indicate decisions such as Mr Hunt’s, but the Church of England’s national headquarters made clear that such a concession was not official policy.

Now the Archbishops Council says the Church of England does not regard baptism as a sign of membership, so any amendment to the record would be unnecessary. Colour me skeptical.

In any event, the back and forth inspired the National Secular Society to launch a tongue in cheek, “Debaptise Yourself!” campaign.
The certificate reads:
I ________ having been subjected to the Rite of Christian Baptism in infancy (before reaching an age of consent), hereby publicly revoke any implications of that Rite and renounce the Church that carried it out. In the name of human reason, I reject all its Creeds and all other such superstition in particular, the perfidious belief that any baby needs to be cleansed by Baptism of alleged ORIGINAL SIN, and the evil power of supposed demons. I wish to be excluded henceforth from enhanced claims of church membership numbers based on past baptismal statistics used, for example, for the purpose of securing legislative privilege.”
The society's president, Terry Sanderson, says the certificate is not designed to be taken too seriously, and he suggests displaying it in the loo.

"The debaptism certificate started out as a kind of satirical comment on the idea that you could be enrolled in a church before you could talk, but it seems to have taken off from there.
* The Roman Catholic Church is willing to place an amendment in the record.

Mr.Tory, would you consider becoming a professional co_k s_ _ker?

Posted by Christian  |  at  7.3.09

John, I read the news today, oh boy! Well, truth be told I read it yesterday but I was busy, so......

Mr.Tory, as far as Conservatives go, you are one of the good ones and I wanted to let you know that I do have respect for you. However, you will need to find a new job soon, so with that in mind I suggest you look into co_k s_ _king as a new career choice. In the video below, some of the more frequently asked questions are answered. Now, sure, the rabid cons will accuse you of being some sort of elitist, but we know what that's about, don't we? Yes, grape envy. So go ahead and give it a try. Who knows, you may have been born to s_ _k co_k!

dumb: driving while breastfeeding.......dumber: driving while breastfeeding while talking on a cell phone

Posted by Christian  |  at  1.3.09

An Ohio woman has been charged with child endangerment and unlawfully restraining her child after admitting to police that she did in fact breastfeed her child and use her cell phone while driving. In an effort to get a nomination for mother of the year award, Genine Compton, 39, told police that she 'does not deprive her child when the child is hungry'.

The incident took place on Thursday, February, 26th, when a male motorist on his way to drop off his son, noticed what was going on and decided to say something. After receiving a less than reassuring response, the man placed a call to the police department's non-emergency number.
"I tried to say something to her. She literally has the little girl on the steering wheel and I said, 'I can't believe you have that kid in your lap and she said, 'You want to pop your titty out and breastfeed this kid?' That's what she said to me. I'm like, 'You can feed your kid when you stop.' It's like wet out here. It's full of traffic. It's ridiculous. She's got like three other kids in the car."
The caller then saw the woman pull into a parking lot and decided to wait for police. When police arrived, Compton was already gone, so they used the license plate number to find and question her. If convicted of the child endangering charge, Compton could face up to 180 days in jail and fined between $1,500 and $1,800,. If convicted of the unlawful restraint charge, Compton could be fined up to $150.

She should receive some sort of fine for being so irresponsible, but I don't think 6 months away from her kids is the answer.
